Well, my 60 day Best Buy return period with Best Buy is running out. With the $200 off + $100 student discount they recently had, i bought two. I returned one already anticipating the release of Haswell soon. But now I think that at the price I purchased it, I should just keep the second one.

I guess it just goes down to, "Is adding another $300 worth the upgrade?".

definitely should, the 1st gen retina 13 are underpowered and will be obsolete once the haswell come out. just wait and see. I rather get the haswell air than the current retina 13. haswell air screams.

Once you run Mavericks, the current rMBP 13" is fine performance-wise. It's a LOT smoother than on Mountain Lion.

The Haswell rMBP is likely to offer better graphics (Iris v HD4000), better wireless (AC v N), a faster SSD (PCIe v SATA) and better battery life. Whether it is worth paying a premium for is a different matter...

I paid $A1299 for a new 13" 256GB model ($US1071+tax) new, while the new equivalent will probably be $A2099. I cannot see an extra $800 in value, particularly given that I don't game, rarely rely on battery and don't shuttle large files around regularly. But of course, there is always a possibility that they make 256GB the base SSD config, or otherwise drop the price when the refresh occurs.

Thank you all for your inputs.

But is it true that the Haswell 13in rmbp will be thinner than the current gen?

Really????????? I don't think so, the 13" rMBP is a great machine, I had a max out 2012 2.7/16/768 15" rMBP and switched to a 2012 2.9/8/768 due to portability. Unless you are a gamer or have a real need for the added power of a dGPU, the 13 inch rMBP is a great choice.

What is the configuration of your 13 inch rMBP?

Maybe for you, not for me!

My 13 inch rMBP is a keeper until I see an IGZO Broadwell rMBP. The MSRP most similar configuration to my 2.9/8/768 (2.8/8/512) is $2000 plus tax and would get 256GB less of space; I paid $1800 for mine, so it is not worth the switch for a machine that will only be marginally better (if order the 2.8/8/1TB that would be $2500, even worst)
