Hey. I have had my mini R now for about a week and I love it! Though sometimes it feels a bit too small. That got me wondering if something between the mini and the air would be the perfect size? So what do you say should Apple make a 9" model?

For me? I'm not sure. I'd need one to try out. The current mini fits easily into my jacket pocket, and is so easy to hold and use. I think another inch and it might not fit as well, but I'm not certain.
Maybe Apple should build a whole line of tablets, starting at 4" (for those who think the iPhone is too big) and increase the size 1/2" for each model, up to 21", so you can buy them like you'd buy a pair of shoes.
Of course, then you'd have a bunch of unsatisfied people asking for 1/4" sizes in between.

What if we had a 9", would Apple still make an 8" and 10"? would we need a new 11"? Too many hard questions, let's focus on what we have
I've actually thought about this too.
You may think an extra inch or so is no big deal, but it would actually increase the total viewing area of the screen by a noticeable difference. Yet it would be easier to hold in the hand than the current air. And weight wise, would be just a tad bit heavier (1/8 pound?) than the mini.
I would love to see a 9" ipad! It would be the perfect compromise between the Air and the mini. I would gladly use this and sell my Air.
However, because the 7.9 amd 9.7 inch versions already exist, there is no way this will see the light of day.

even if apple make 6-10" ipad, people will still find stupid reasons to complain. would an 7.5" be perfect, would an 8.5" be perfect
Yeah, there really isn't much difference. I find the 9.7" iPad just about perfect for weight, handling, and screen size.
In a way the mini size itself is already a compromise as it is bigger than almost all "small tablets"

It took long enough to get Apple to build something smaller, I doubt they have any interest in offering further choices. They already think they're confusing the customer. Remember Apple knows best
