It was $8/month to add full coverage from my carrier, so I went with that.
Might go with AppleCare+ as well. Usually get 30 days to purchase, correct?
I have always had AppleCare + as I like the ability to go straight into the Apple Store and have my phone fixed if there is an issue (clicking screen on my 5s yesterday for instance) where with Square Trade it could take up to 5 days (they have a 5 day guarantee). So for a phone I would much rather have the Apple Store where I could get it replaced immediately. I don't like the carrier insurance either because I don't trust them when they have to bring your phone back to look at it. I'd rather have the Apple guys do that. Just my opinion. For computers and iPads I think Square trade is great, but for something like my phone I don't want to not have it.
My AMEX is my insurance.
I didn't see any point buying AC+ as I have never ever needed it before.
AMEX only covers accidental/theft for 90 days from the date of your order, not the date you receive it FYI. It does however extend the manufacturers warranty for another year, if you dropped it you'd be screwed though since it doesn't cover accidental for anything over 90 days.
While I paid for mine with my AMEX I'll get Applecare + for cheap piece of mind.

Squaretrade for 3 year plan with accidental damage.
That's what I'm getting. Only $30 more for the extra year.
You can bring phone to apple store for repair/replace and squaretrade pays you what you paid apple very fast.
Also, I think you can get as many claims as needed up to the value of the phone, which would probably be 3-4 times. Applecare allows 2.
Pay for the coverage you need. My iPhone 5 was stolen or drunkenly lost by me. If I have insurance on it from AT&T I could have gotten a new one for $200. I did not have it at the time. Now I pay for insurance from AT&T 6.99 a month. $200 deductible. goes down to 150 after 6 months no incident. Down to 99 after 12 months no incidents. For me it was simply. I want a plan that covers THEFT!
You're completely right, but I think Amex does not add an extra year on top of AC+. I never dropped or lost any phone in the past 17 years, so hopefully it won't happen now
I may pick up AC+ if i decide to go naked w/ the 6+...
With the 6+, I'm thinking of going with SquareTrade or AppleCare Plus. Any idea on what is better? Any other options?
I've used ST before and they were FAST.
