AOL is in a position where it can't afford to have too many things going on, so I understand why they did it.

Agreed, but by the same token, they keep cutting services/sites because of money, then they have less opportunity to make money, creating a death spiral.

Disappointing news as I used to love TUAW. They did write a lot of well researched articles and didn't just regurgitate every rumour about Apple under the sun.

I used to love 'em but now not so much. Still sad to see a successful blog go. :(
