Just got off the phone with the Apple support person. She had me do all the basics like check and repair the disk from booting up with the OS X cd... then reset the PRAM... but still not fixed.
Next we made a new user account, "Test", and as far as I could tell this new user account when logging into it did NOT have the blue tint issue. I'm losing confidence in my own eyes now as I've been staring at this light bluishness... but I am pretty sure that this new account looked totally fine. So- my affected accounts were the standard user account I was running during th e update... and also my main admin user account.
She then had me drag my Preferences folder to the desktop, log out, and then log back in. The screen seemed to look fine at this point! SO WEIRD. So, after transfering me to a "specialist" for a second opinion, I talked with him for awhile and he is convinced that it's an incompatibility issue with one of my 136 preference files.
So basically my choices according to him are, re-setup all of my preferences and toss the old folder now on my desktop... or drag each preference file from the old one back into the new current one, ONE BY ONE and logging out and back in each time to find the culprit.
My head hurts. I'm gonna think about this awhile and keep pokin around for a better answer. I hope this helps generate some new thoughts in you other affected people.
Can anyone [with better eyes than me] confirm a new user account looks good?
I feel so silly having a hard time telling now... but maybe I'm just getting dazed. And now I'm paranoid kind of, and just want things back how they were...
