Mac OS 10.4.10 Under Development

While few details are available, MacRumors has heard that Apple is in the process of gathering testers for another update to Mac OS 10.4 "Tiger." The update would bring the version number to Mac OS 10.4.10.

Apple released Mac OS 10.4.9 in March after a prolonged period of testing and refining. Despite this, some Intel iMac users have reported that the update created audio problems, which Apple has reportedly pledged to fix in the "next update."

I never thought I'd see the day.

In before 10.4.1 = 10.4.10.

Isn't this kinda like saying, "'Monday' says 'Tuesday' is coming soon..."?

I kinda expected 10.4.10 after 10.4.9, didn't you?

Good will stop the arguments that 10.4.10 doesn't exist. I have some weird sound problems on my iMac as well as some reoccurring Mail problems.

To be honest, the minute Leopard's release was pushed back, the fact there would be a 10.4.10 became as obvious as Britney Spears' lack of talent.

I think they need to call it 10.4.9 SE. It's what Microsoft would do

Maybe they'll finally fix the freaking ancient bug where energy saver doesn't remember your settings after a restart (don't dim my damn screen before sleep).

Well this is interesting. I welcome the update. I remember when everyone used to say "No Apple would never go past a .9 update" Well I'm glad that Apple sees a need to fix some more things so they'll release another update.

Hahahahahahahahaha!

I want to see a lot of people eating crow!

You smarmy know-it-alls that *knew* Apple would never release a .10, and argued so vociferously, and at such great lenghth that it would never happen, probably all feel pretty dumb right now.

Ah, the first Britney Spears reference on Macrumors lol

... I always wondered though, for those users who don't or can't upgrade to a new version of 10.X, does Apple still work on revisions of older OS's. For example, when Leopard (or whatever it will be called) is finally released, and PowerPC Mac users for whatever reasons don't/can't upgrade and stick with 10.4 Tiger, will Apple still work on any bugs in that OS with 10.4.X updates?

It's Apple themselves that are eating crow; it's obvious they intended 10.4.9 to be the final update, otherwise they would not have had such an uncharaceristically long delay between 10.4.8 and 10.4.9 (it was like 6 months!). But pushing Leopard back changes a lot, and I think by now just about everyone was expecting a 10.4.10, regardless of Apple's best-laid plans. It's not "dumb" to suppose Apple would behave like Apple and not release a .10 -- it's being done now out of unanticipated necessity. If they did this sort of thing as a matter of course, those arguments would not exist.

May not be 10.4.10. It might be a "security update" or something along those lines. Many people have problems wrapping their heads around 10.4.10. I figured they would run out of single digits around the time the hit 10.4.8 and Leopard was nowhere to be seen. I am sure they have people sitting around HQ arguing is it less confusing to call it 10.4.A or 10.4.10 or 10.4.K or 10.4.9.1.

My vote is to call it a security update.
