iTunes 7.2 released

It just popped up in my Software Update that iTunes 7.2 is now available.

Quote:
With iTunes 7.2, preview and purchase iTunes Plus music—new higher-quality, DRM-free music downloads from participating music labels.

New higher quality music? YAY!

It shows up on the Windows machine I'm using until WWDC.

Now where's this DRM-free music?

I got it too... now if they'd just update their store.

Not for a good song! Music is one of those "quality of life" issues with me.

The whole DRM thing doesn't honestly bother me too much ether way, but it's nice to see Apple release this nonetheless.

Hardly.

A 99 cent 45 in 1970 would cost $5.20 today, or $2.60 a song. (Of course, most 45s were 1.29 to $1.49, but....)

Deal with it, kid.

I don't know if I'm looking very well, but is there a DRM free song section?

Hmm, not showing up in SU for me but I'm downloading it from apple.co.nz successfully. Hopefully, since albums are the same price, they'll offer free upgrades

looks like the software update preceded the official announcement. I would expect an official launch in the AM.

Nothing has changed overtly from what I can see. Since they released it so late in the day, it was probably meant to be downloaded tomorrow along with the release of the EMI deal most likely during Steve's keynote. Either way, this is great news.

I just opened iTunes on my Dell, clicked Check for Updates, and it said that my version of iTunes (7.1.1) is the current version...

Well, not much difference so far...

Hope they've ironed out the few small annoyances, like the "screeching" Crossfade Playback bug...

PS! It showed up nicely in my SU.

Click on @ top-left and Software Updates....

If you check for updates from within iTunes itself, it doesn't (yet?) find the update.
