YouTube is Mystery 12th App

I suppose everyone pretty much already knew youtube would be on the iphone, but I guess now its official. And it says it will available by a built-in app, like apple tv. So this must fill that ugly blank spot.

Are they encoding the originals(not the .flv files) into h.264? If so will so of the higher quality stuff actually look better?

You can get gmail mobile on a lot of phones. Not that big a deal--I have it on my T-mobile SDA.

Doing the social right

Well this is very good news.

MS tried the social and it failed, now you can get your MySpace (and others), Utube content, and all the favorite emails services along with SMS and others all in a single device.

Now we just need the camera moved to the opposite side and we can do video chats and photos (I hope). Maybe next version.

Next we need the Dick Tracy watch (iWatch) same capabilities in a wrist watch.

Yes, I doubt that Picasa for Mac will ever be released (because of iPhoto competition) but I would love it.

It's the best free photo managing App out there... imo.

This is a bit off topic, but I see it misquoted so often that it should be mentioned here. There is no such thing as a "1080i" Plasma/LCD/DLP HDTV.

They're all either 720p (some are technically 768p) or 1080p depending on what the native resolution of the particular set is. All Plasma/LCD/DLP sets are progressive scan, they aren't interlaced displays like old CRT TVs used to be.

A 720p HDTV will always downconvert an incoming 1080i signal and output it in 720p, and a 1080p HDTV will always deinterlace a 1080i signal and output it in 1080p. Also, a 1080p HDTV will always upscale a 720p signal and output it in 1080p. In other words, your HDTV will always output (what you actually see) in it's native progressive scan resolution.

Gps?

Hmmm, could it be that Apple already have included a GPS chip in the phone and just to be able to make a big splash when people begin to whine about no GPS? They basically just had to add the software in an update just like they did with 802.11n for MBP to get it flying.
Google maps calls for a full out GPS capabilities. The sales instruction manuals lame excuse for no GPS could be a tease.

I agree. I greatly prefer Picasa over iphoto.

You don't happen to be one of the people that installed a haxie on the TV are you ?

This could be good or bad depending on your perspective. It Could be because Apple isn't finished with the product yet.

My first thought when they announced that "web apps" would work on the iPhone was Googleapps: if ported correctly to the iPhone, we wouldn't need to worry about Office.

The iPhone site is being updated now. It mentions youtube on iPhone in bottom left, but the link just goes to the "Breakthrough Internet Device" demo

and what's up with the touch demo video spilling and floating over text? You would think they'll have zero tolerance towards cosmetic blemishes on any of the iPhone pages...

Yeah..I have the latest OS updates and QT updates and the demo is hosed in Firefox 2.0 just like you said and doesn't even show up in Safari!! It just says to download QT!! WTF?? Pretty weak. I think this is the first time I've ever seen something really broken on the Apple site like this. I mean, for an important launch product like this, it's a bad sign.

Yes, you are the only one who THINKS that. Everyone else already KNOWS it isn't built in.

I am intrested in streaming media from my PC to my TV. I have alot of HD content that i'd like to play on my HDTV. But most of it is in XVID format. Some of my video is MPEG2, DVIX and .vob, Does the apple TV support that yet?
