If we knew... it would be from the link.

BTW, you might want to fix up the link, you have the URL and name backwards. (I fixed the version in my reply)

I am downloading it now. Still waiting for the Optimizing to finish.

The OpenGL framework update would be great. Comparing xbench benchmarks between my 2.2 MBP and my brothers 2.16 MBP... I beat him on everything except the OpenGL test.

The default LCD Color Profile was also updated!

I just switched it from my own calibration and it looks much better than it did with the default color profile that the MBPs (SR) shipped with!

MacBook Pro Software Update 1.0 Released

Apple has released MacBook Pro Software Update 1.0, which "provides important bug fixes and is recommended for all 2.2/2.4GHz MacBook Pro models."

While Apple does not elaborate on the contents of the update, an analysis of the update package indicates that it contains improvements to the graphics subsystem, with updated nVidia graphics drivers and some updated OpenGL components.

Some initial benchmarks of the updated MacBook Pros had indicated some graphics scores lower than its predecesor. This had been speculated to be caused by faulty graphics drivers. This update would seem to be an attempt at correcting these issues.

Apple still makes computers?

I hope this solves some of the little issues that have been plaguing my poor powerbook (yeah yeah I know it's a mbp but powerbook sounds way sweeter)

I just checked software updates, nothing there for me.
I have the 2.33 GHz model, I'm not sure if it applies.
Edit: Nvm, I thought it was models 2.2 through 2.4; and not those two exclusively.
I guess I won't get it - but I wanted an update for my MBP!

I was thinking the exact same thing. You can tell that all of the iPhone dev's switched back to their regularly scheduled Mac line duties .

constant crashing

I have the newest MacBook Pro 2.2ghz LED model and my computer has been crashing a lot with Flash Video. The computer locks up in a very strange way. No kernel panic, no app quits. The cursor goes crazy and then the spinning beach ball and then complete freeze. It takes about 30-60 seconds for the whole process to happen and there is no way to make it stop other than to hold power and restart. I am on my 2nd computer already and the new one does the same thing. Mostly happens on YouTube videos / flash player but happens sparatically in Safari and more so in Firefox. I really hope this helps!

I found this update made my pc run 3 degrees hotter... but the system seems snappier. Anyways, since we figure the drivers were renewed would burning a new bootcamp driver cd also update the drivers in xp or was this just a OSX update. Thanks

right. that is without a doubt the stupidest thing i've ever heard. it's a product, not a child. you cant change the name because you dont like it (unless you happen to become CEO of apple and change the name back on all FUTURE models)

Aperture working much better now

Before, when scrolling through photos, or making adjustments to the crop window, would get random crashes like this one, in the GL driver:
Quote:
Command: Aperture
Path: /Applications/Aperture.app/Contents/MacOS/Aperture
Parent: WindowServer [68]

Version: 1.5.3 (1.5.3)
Build Version: 6
Project Name: Aperture
Source Version: 704050130

PID: 3900
Thread: 0

Exception: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (0x0001)
Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS (0x0001) at 0x8d8ce1c9

Thread 0 Crashed:
0 com.apple.GeForce8xxxGLDriver 0x013e3dc5 gldPageoffBuffer + 136133
1 com.apple.GeForce8xxxGLDriver 0x0146c872 gldPageoffBuffer + 695922
2 com.apple.GeForce8xxxGLDriver 0x0146d0d0 gldPageoffBuffer + 698064
Applied the update, spent the past five or ten minutes stressing Aperture as much as possible, making fine adjustments to the crop window (the most reliable way to crash the application before), and can't make it crash now.

If it's snappier/cooler too, then great, but the difference between fundamentally broken and completely working is the big win with this update for me.
