Why do these macs cost less than U.S. prices?

http://www.macworldextra.co.uk/showm...alref=SMC03907

NEW G5s & OS9/OS X BOOT G4s

OS 9 & X(10.2) DUAL BOOT 1.25GHzG4 from 839
DUAL 1.25 G4 from 1035.
SUPER DRIVE option +125

Entry-level G5 1.6GHz from just 1139

G5 1.8GHz at a stunning 1389

If I could get a Dual boot 1.25 G4 for $839, I'd buy it today!

Well, that's british currency. It's not $839.
In American that would be somewhere around $1250
British pound I think worth atleast 25-35% more than US Dollar.

Hahaha!!! Don't go to the Hong Kong site. Those prices would probably scare you to death.

Correction: And 1 = $1.59 USD.

Too bad italy switched to the Euro, the Lira was trading at about 2500 to the dollar for its last few years...an iBook would set you back over a million!

Yep. Just checked.

Today Pound Sterling trades 1 for 1.596100 USD.

SO, 1.6 is correct.

Which means you 839 Pound Sterling computer would end up costing you around $1342

Cheers.

Oops, sorry guys. I went to the http://www.bank-banque-canada.ca/en/exchform.htm website and converted from Canadian to UK pounds. It looked strange to me at first, too.

50 Million yen would buy you a small apartment in Tokyo.... or 5 Mercedes Benz S500 (the universal Japanese value base).

So did I, but I didn't find it "unbelievable" since the US dollar has been dropping in relation to many other currencies.

The Canadian dollar to British Pound exchange rate was 1 = $2.55 Canadian dollars. Now its at 1 = $2.22 Cdn. I guess what I said was just too unbelievable.
