Safe to download my own drivers in Boot Camp

Is it safe to download updated drivers for the hardware in my MBP for use in my Windows XP environment, or has Apple released custom ones that I shouldn't replace as a part of Boot Camp?
 
just yesterday i downloaded ATI's own xp drivers for my video card.... works perfectly fine.

you should be able to do it no worries.
 
I usually do this with the ATi drivers on the 1900XT in my Mac Pro. I don't bother for the rest of the components.
