Our university iMac computers (the G4 "lamp shade") are still running Jaguar. Wow... Coming over to the Mac during the Tiger days, it's almost comical using Jaguar, with no Spotlight, Expose, anything. And they had the old Pro Mouse, so I actually had to do control-clicking, too.

Has anyone found a Mac out there that still runs any Mac OS X version that was released before Jaguar?

I am I the only one who is still using a single button mouse?

I want to say yes, but I know the answer is going to be no. Someone here will still be using text based entry on an Apple I. I've got 2 one button mice in my drawer, but since I've got macbook, macbook pro, macbook air, I havent used them. Two finger tap trackpad is the best.

hes an australian, of course hes sure 😀
Spot on 😀

This isn't Mac OS X, rather Mac OS 9, I don't have acess to 10.1 at the moment.
Guess what game 😛

Hmmmm, maybe the "house" I chose isn't the best example.
See invisible text (below) when you give up 😛

THANKYOU!!!!

i have been looking for that game since.. dad took away my LC575.. hahahahahahahaha

your a legend!

if not, then damn

Relatively new to the Mac ownership game, so for me I see Leopard on a regular basis (upgraded old Tiger machine). I have a LCIII that I could set up with 7.6 on it, but the earliest OS X I have seen recently has been Jaguar.

Looking to buy a few older Macs still though, hope to have dual boot OS 9 and OS X soon.

why not emulate?? i find it pretty darn decent for the old games, just a BIT slower depending on what your playing.

if your willing to pay then having a good classic gaming machine is a good idea though, my g3 imac and 5000 is perfect for that

There are a number of pre-press houses that still run Quark 5 on G4s under System 9.2! I have a client who even runs PageMaker 7 😱 Always a thrill to deal with the Extensions Manager!

Now that I think of it, I remember installing 10.1 on a PowerMac 7500 (Gasp) ages ago, very slow but it worked and was "functional".

Not a gamer, more a tinkerer, hence why I took my friends LCIII off his hands. Want to play around more with networking and learning more about the old systems.

Let an old PowerBook G3 slip on ebay yesterday. I knew it ended at 1600 BST, but forgot and was ever so slightly outbid. Went for £31 plus £15 shipping, I'd have happily paid that especially since I think it was upgraded heavily on HDD and RAM.

System 6

I know a college professor who still uses System 6 on one of those old beige boxes. And when he wants to send an email, he writes it using "WriteNow", prints it out, gives it to his secretary, who retypes it on a modern computer and then emails it. He says it works for him. 😱

O_O

But isn't this thread about Mac OS X?

Panther on the emacs at school. It sucks 🙁

Its pretty messed up, theres Panther on the emacs, then theres an iMac with Tiger, and there all running different versions of iLife. In fact the iMac is running iMovie 08 and iMovie 06, so its all screwed.

Panther was great in the day sure, but it totally sucks now.
