How to sync iPhone to new computer
Have moved to dark side within the last month... First bought a 3G iphone, then an Imac. Guess those commericals are working. Use Windows for most of my business applications and website programming.
Before I bought the iMac, synced my 3G iphone with Windows XP. Really like Apps/Store. Have over 100 apps (mostly free). I recently hooked up my iPhone to my iMac and it says it's already associated with another phone. To transfer my iPhone to my iMac, do I need to create another account in Itunes store, and then transfer my files to that account.....? Just asking for your experience. |

Log into your same iTunes account. and then click on Authorize(sp?) computer. Then i THINK you have to download all of your apps again. oh and music, you can just consolidate your library, and then move it to the iMac.

I'm rather sure that if you switched from a PC to a Mac that any Apple store will transfer all of your files (no apps) to your mac for free. Maybe you should call an Apple store and see about doing this. Then no transfer will be required, only the authorization as described above.

1. Upgrade to the latest version of iTunes (this will make the transition easier as the new machine will also be running the same version of iTunes)
2. Sync iPhone on old computer for the last time 3. Deauthorize iTunes on the old machine 4. Copy the entire My Music folder from the old computer to the new computer 5. Install the latest version of iTunes on the new machine 6. Plug in the iPhone on the new machine and sync 7. Re-setup any preferences (where to sync music, photos, videos, contacts etc…) and re-sync again on the new machine and authorize the new iTunes Tips: Besides what directions mentioned above, i personally share a column of iPhone Transfer Backup for you about how to transfer files from iPhone to computer. Cheers!!!!! Last edited by SinaLiiu; Feb 28, 2011 at 06:28 AM. |

Make sure you sign in iTunes and authorize the computer first. Then connect the iPhone,(cancel the sync),right click on your iPhone's icon in iTunes and select "Transfer purchases".
This way your apps/books will be synced with your new PC. What's more, you can refer these articles about transferring iPhone to computer: For Windows: How to transfer or sync iPhone contents to PC For Mac OS: How to transfer contents from iPhone to new iMac Hope that can help you a lot.
