Simple Safari Tips
Following on from the the highly succesful "Simple OSX Tips"
I'm new to safari..... so I wouuld like some simple tips The best one is making Safari act like IE5.22 or netscape etc as My bank will only work with a certain browser. The Debug menu should be to the right of the Help menu. Under the User Agent submenu select the browser of choice. If you ever want to turn the Debug menu off, repeat those steps but type 'defaults write com.apple.Safari IncludeDebugMenu 0' into Terminal instead.

When you have bookmarks "Auto-Tabbed" in the bookmarks bar, Option-Click to select from the list.

hold command (apple) and click/press return to open pages in a new tab. works with google search bar, URL address bar or any of the links on a page.
most everyone probably knew this already... click on the web site icon (or the blue circle, by default) on the URL address bar to highlight the entire address with one click. |

Another useful tip: You can spell check as you type by going to the Edit Menu -> Spelling. I just now found this out. If only I had known... |

Help!
I typed this in to Terminal...defaults write com.apple.Safari IncludeDebugMenu 1 and it didn't work. It says "-bash: defaults: command not found -bash-2.05b$ " What does that mean? |

Are we talking REALLY simple here? I have a few...
It's all about the favicon. On this Web site, it's the little apple icon to the left of the address. On other sites, it's a different icon, but it's there. Single-click it to highlight the address. Better than the triple-click us "switchers" are used to. On a site and want to add a quick bookmark to your bookmark bar? Drag that favicon to the bookmark bar. |
