Problem getting Mail to work Hot Mail

I've already checked the forums and can't find my answer.

OK, so here's the problem:

I've use Yahoo for a while and I get sick of getting emails for 'male enhansment,' so I've decided to try Mail. I know you can't use the free Yahoo account with Mail, so I signed up for a Hotmail account(I've already got the hacks to make Hotmail work). I've made an account name and password and all that stuff. I enter my account name and everything, so far everything is going good. I quit Mail, realaunch it, select my inbox, but right next to it is a sign that looks like a yield sign (see pic). I click on it and get the error:

The server error encountered was: The server “musicpyrite89^hotmail.com” cannot be contacted on port 548.

This sucks, ok, so I open up the prefernces and click account. Then I got to the tab that says 'advanced' and I try changing the port(see other pic) like a dozen times, and it still doesn't work.

So what should I do? Can somebody check and see what port your using? Or is there something else wrong?

I'm assuming you're using the httpmail plugin? If so, then it looks like you've got the wrong account type set (the Advanced section shouldn't look like that). Recreate the account, and set the account type to httpmail.

Then fill out the other fields in the Account Information tab. For incoming mail server, type 'hotmail.com', and you can leave the Outgoing Mail Server as none.

I do have the httpmail plugin, and I think I know what you ment by recreating the account, but what the heck does it mean when you say "The Advanced section souldn't look like that."

Ok, I know how to set up the Mail account, now I have a different problem, when ever I start Mail, the account longs onto the previous account that I had (the one that didn't work). No problem, I'll just go to the system prefs, delete that account and make a new one. Well every time I do that, Mail crashes and I send one of those 'bug reports to Apple.' So what I did was delete the Mail app, and downloaded a new Mail app. But when I start that new Mail app, it logs onto the account that I used to have and the one that I don't want.
So what I'm saying is, is there anyway to totally delete Mail and all its info(like in the folder library, systems, etc.)?

HexMonkey: I moved all the folders you said to, but now when I try to connect, I get the yeild sign again(see pic).It says this:
Could not connect to 'musicpyrite89_hotmail.com'
Service Unavailable
I'll include a pic of the account information, in the prefrences. Mabey you can tell me if I entered something wrong.

Note: I did reinstall the hot mail plugin, and I did check the box that says 'enable this account' under the advanced in the prefrences.

OK, I've been messing with the settings, I know what I messd up on, the user name was suppost to be my email address. Thanks for all the help HexMonkey.
