Triple monitor on Mac mini?
Was just wondering if anyone out there has a triple monitor setup on their mini and if so how they did it.
I currently have dual 24" monitors set-up and it works great. I'm curious of I could add a 30" to that or is the mini just not powerful enough. Thanks |

With the 2009 mini you can run a 30 off of the miniDisplayPort.
The miniDVI is limited to 24" resolutions - though with a dual head 2 go you should be able to split that and run two 17" monitors. You can get a USB to DVI adapter to add 3rd monitor (and more) - though this monitor will be slower than the others. Good for palettes and email and such though. And the USB adapters don't support 24" monitors (max out around 1600x1200, not 1920x1200).

Just out of curiosity, what do you plan on doing w/3 displays and a mini?

How about this...
![]() Get a mini-DVI to VGA adapter and one of these guys: http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/products/gxm/dh2go/ It can allegedly drive two 1920x1200 displays, which is the resolution on many 24" displays. These are your existing two 24" displays. Then get a 30" LCD with a displayport connector on it, and hook it up to the mini-displayport port with one of these: http://estore.circuitassembly.com/ca...ter-p-287.html I'd wait for this cable to come out rather than deal with the mini-displayport to dual-link DVI adapter, which hasn't received stellar reviews.

If you want an additional 30", you'll have to hook it up to the Mini DisplayPort.
The second monitor via HDMI, the third on via one of those USB 2.0 to DVI/VGA adapters.

check out this image from apple's thunderbolt display page.
it shows 2 displays connected with one cable to a macbook. maybe this would also work by connecting the wire to a mac mini or iMac? the setup in this pic is pretty sweet and should give you enough real estate |
