40 gigabyte hard drive
768mb of RAM (upgraded from the 256 that came with it)
Combo Drive (Reads DVDs and CDs, burns CDs)
32mb of Video RAM
17 inch built-in monitor
OS X 10.3 Panther
Software includes the iLife '04 suite (Garage Band, iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD and iTunes), Quicken 2004, AppleWorks 6, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4, Deimos Rising, Sound Studio, World Book 2004 encyclopedia.
Ports, in order (see picture below)
Headphone/sound out, Sound In, 3 USB 2.0 ports, 2 FireWire ports, 56k modem, Ethernet, and a Mini-VGA port for video mirroring
price $980 emac
 
No thats not a good deal....The Combo Drive eMac only cost $799...You can get the Superdrive model with an 80GB HD for $999.
 
yeah the only possible justification is the upgrade in ram,but if you buy ur own ram from 3rd parties you can get a better deal that that

Someone's trying to scam you!!!

If you get that config (minus the extra RAM) direct from Apple, it's $799. The extra 512MB RAM for that computer is $95.99 from Crucial. That adds up to 895.98. Whoever is offering you this is overcharging by almost $100.

If you get that same config refurb, it will probably be an additional $50 to $150 off! Don't buy from this person!!!

The only thing I can think of, besides them attempting to scam you, is it's actually a superdrive model (burns DVDs too).

I agree with all of this. Except I really doubt it's superdrive, because that has an 80 gig HD standard. Bottom line, this is a rip off.

performance wise, the eMac is much better than the iBook.

on a price/performance basis, the eMac destroys the iBook. portability is nice to have though. so comes down to figuring out your wants/needs.
