Hi there,

I'm going to be replacing my brother's 80GB drive with a 160GB drive. I've done this by using an external enclosure, but I don't feel like spending the few bucks on one, and I have spare time. His computer is hooked up to a time capsule via gigabit ethernet. If I pull out the drive and install the OS on the new drive, can I then recover all of the data from the time machine backup on the time capsule? I'll be using gigabit ethernet. Thanks!

Yes but if you're recovering the entire system, it will be slow.

I did a complete restore on my MBP (because of a botched Snow Leopard install and it took nearly 8 hours. I'd recommend cloning the drive and restoring from that.
