Wow, amazing, my predictions of only a CPU and GPU bump with the same price was correct.
Hey, maybe I should predict these things more often!?

Woo hoo finally!
But $4999? Dang man. That's a lot of cash. This was long over due. Do they have the rumored USB 3.0? Last edited by millertime021; Jul 27, 2010 at 09:08 AM. |

I'm a little disappointed the low end Mac Pro didn't really get that great of a refresh. I guess I wanted the low end to have six cores @ $2499 and the high end to have 8 @3499 with a BTO option of 12 cores. That would have been a much better value.

NAL LY Phew. Now I have no excuses to not buy a Pro. But I really wish they would have done just a little something to tweak the external design. It isn't timeless, it looks just like what it is - 7 years old. Oh well. |

Up for sale
2008 Mac Pro 3,1
Argggh now I have a decision to make. No USB 3 or possibility of lightpeak, higher prices for an 8 core (I won't go down to a quad core system), the graphics card is great, but overall undecided. 2.8 8 core Xeon 8 GB RAM (expandable to 32 GB) 1 TB SATA drive, expandable to 8 TB internal SATA drives ATI Radeon HD 4870 512 GB, minidisplay port and DVI SATA optical super drive Wireless keyboard and Magic Mouse BRAND NEW LOGIC BOARD (nothing faulty, a plastic place holder for the graphics card broke off so they replaced it) Hmmmm, Blu Ray drive I'll even through in adobe CS5 Mastee Collection, Snow Leopard, iLife '09, iWork '09 Thinking $2500?

No USB3, that means ill sit this on out
Very disappointing there is no USB3 or new Fire wire connections, not going to buy this generation.
Btw, if i go to the online store now and try to configure a 12 core machine i cant, is the store updated at all? Don't see any SSD options either.

Yow
Top end is too rich for me. Glad I went with Corei7 iMac last month.
But I'd love a 12-core Mac Pro just to play with. I'd be spoiled for life in terms of what it could do. I predict lots of dissappointed folks though. They want a built-in holodeck and massively changed exterior for no good reason.

Or how about 5000 of you send me a dollar. It'd be cheaper that way.
