Just was wondering if anybody has got any information on the 10.4.2 release. Like can it be purchased online or in the store. Also how is the 10.4.2 release on your computer is it very good performance? Thanks

I just heard a rumor that it will be the default version in retail stores and online.

Uh...

You do know that 10.4.2 is a free update...right? Why does it matter if it is on DVD yet?

OS X now comes standard on DVD , since your title suggests that you are looking for the cd version please follow this link to http://images.apple.com/macosx/pdf/tigermediaexchangev3.pdf which you can fill out and get the CD version. As to 10.4.2 once you have Tiger installed as mentioned above 10.4.2 is a free upgraded via the web.

Only if you plan on buying a new computer with a major update released after 10.4.2 -- then there is a good chance that computer will have a copy of the latest OS X version on it's System Restore DVD.

Of course these machines will also fail to work with the OS X Update released prior to its release. Thus a machine requiring Mac OS X v 10.4.3 won't work with the 10.4 retail box -- and you'll need the System Restore DVD or the next OS release 10.5.

Apple usually ships one version of the retail box, unless there is a severe problem requiring a recall of the boxes.

System Restore DVDs get updated, the retail box -- not.

Is it worth updating to 10.4.2? I am still at 10.4 and havent updated yet. Is there any problems/bugs with the updates? Is there much difference? Thanks.

Well there is a serious flaw that lets widgets execute malicious code... not to mention countless other updates and bug fixes. I would update if I were you.
