1080p MKV with subtitles over SMB app

I have an iPad 2 and a iPhone 4S and I'm looking for an app that plays 720p/1080p mkv with external srt subtitles over SMB.

I've seen this "nplayer" on the app store but I would like to know from anyone that bought it first if it works before purschasing...
If theres none that works well on app store which one from cydia should I use?

Wow! Thanks for the awesome post. I bought nPlayer and indeed it runs 1080p videos great!
