As announced late last month, Apple CEO Tim Cook will sit down today for an opening session interview at the D11: All Things Digital conference in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. The session will kick off at 6:00 PM Pacific Time / 9:00 PM Eastern Time tonight, and MacRumors will be covering his interview as it happens.

Cook participated in the event for the first time last year with a 100-minute interview with Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher. Cook's predecessor, Steve Jobs, also participated in the D conferences on a number of occasions.

Cook is not expected to make any major announcements during his interview, but he is likely to provide some insight into Apple's business and the markets in which the company participates. Tidbits from his appearance last year included discussion of how Apple was going to "double down" on product secrecy in order to fight leaks, a brief mention of Apple's interest in TV, and hints at the Facebook integration that arrived in iOS 6 and improvements to Siri.

Finally something.

Apple is becoming boring to follow (with no product launches), WWDC can't be here soon enough.

They should have scheduled this interview until after WWDC.
He won't be able to talk about anything if he is "Doubling Down on Secrecy".

I hope they learn how silence and no product announcements has hurt their image and maybe the stock price. The "announce a truckload of products for sale in the fall" approach can't keep people and the press interested all year. They need more announcements staggered throughout the year.

Unfortunately, it'll probably come with minimal new information, and Tim Cook will use this as an opportunity to once again discuss Apple's mantra that helps them provide excellent products for the world.

It's 2013 and All Things D isn't live streaming this thing? That's crazy!

It's because nobody wants to watch it. Do you really expect that Cook will say something interesting? Has any Apple exec told anything interesting outside of their special events?

And if you do follow that strategy, you better make sure the products you do launch really wow everybody.

The iPhone 5, iOS6, the iPad 4 and even the iPad Mini have all failed in that regard. That's why Apple is losing momentum, and why they'd better be preparing for a kick-ass WWDC.

Actually, the improvements to the Mac have been Apple's best showings of the last year. The Retina MacBook Pro is great, and the new iMac is super-sleek (even if they're having trouble manufacturing them). Those are both nice, but the thing we're all most interested in is iOS.

"Cook participated in the event for the first time last year with a 100-minute interview with Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher"

Why in the hell do they keep bringing Kara back? She is beyond horrible and it's painful to listen to her idiotic questions and comments.

he won't mention anything new apart from the same old "exciting new products coming soon"..

They live streamed their last presentation. They better be live streaming WWDC too!

That was a live stream to Mac only audience and didn't include PC's or any other non Apple device. It was for the iPad Mini and why stream only to Apple customers?

It's weak and unacceptable in 2013.

"According to Apple's events page, the livestream is only available on iPhones, iPads, Apple TV, and Apple's Safari browser, which comes installed on Macs but not PCs. So it seems Windows and Android users will be left to read the live-blogs if they want to be among the first to hear about the new devices."

Safari _comes installed_ on Macs, but a Safari version for Windows is available on Apple's website, so anyone wanting to use it on a PC can do so.
