Hello, If my 2012 13in MacBook pro shuts down the only way I can get it to turn back on is to unplug the battery, plug it back in and then connect the magsafe. The power button doesn't work at all to turn the machine on or off. Thanks in advance for any help.

Unfortunately, the failed power button is a hardware failure with no software workaround since the machine is off. I'm impressed that you came up with disconnecting the battery, although it is incredibly inconvenient. The only options I know of are to leave the machine on in sleep mode when not needed or get the power button repaired (best IMO).

Something else occurred to me that might help. You can set a daily startup time in the System Preferences>Energy Saver>Schedule...>Start up or wake.

It is not as convenient and flexible as a working power button, but you would have a automatic startup at a time you specify.
