The rat engineers over in Ratland Florida could have found a better solution than the 2 stop/2 compound/2 anytime rule.. I was more than ready to accept crashgate 2025 if a car ended up in the wall with 10 laps to go, just enough to cause a brief red flag, but not eat into race time.. So a certain recent dad could "get a free pitstop"...

Once a 4 time WDC pitted, the pawpaw drove off like his hair was on fire.. 10 more laps maybe lapped up until 5th..

More Luton and less Monaco, I would suggest Morocco than Monaco, 2x Miami back to back than Monaco.. And was it only me but the tv broadcast was hopeless, they kept missing everything, was the tv prod team dozing??? I wonder if because of the Indy 200 lap farce across the pond, the TV Prod A team was in the USA, Monaco being a snooze, the TV Prod Freelance pool for Monaco was staffed by students from Monaco Primary school AV dept???

I'd like to see them make a "Monaco" car. Just a little smaller maybe with less horsepower to keep it safe.
I'd like them to use just an old design, something from the classics series. Or just a formule rp1. Heck even if every team uses an Alpine A110 it would be more fun to watch.

There would be no problem with standard ye olden pumps, you have a choice, start the race with 101 litres of fuel, for the whole race, but you race 1 tyre, no pit stops, or you elect to start with 30 litres of fuel, and some bloke stands there with the ye olden times pump handle you find at any pump station in France, that meters out fuel at the same domestic rate.. you can change tyres if you want.. as many times as you want.. I wonder... no fuel v refuel at domestic consumer speed.. Does not take all that long to spend R200 to pump about 9 litres of 95 coastal unlead..

I just saw Max made a comment about the race needing to embrace Mario Kart to spice it up, so maybe my suggestion regarding bananas skins on the track wasn’t so ridiculous after all? 😲
Juat my two cents and I hate to say it but Max and - sigh - Team Williams made a bit of a mockery of Monaco today.

They played to the rules, James Vowells, admitted this during the race, the FIA clearly has issues with the race, as pointed out, last year, red flag, and cars ran without pitstop for 95% of the race, no overtakes, so the FIA thought, no overtakes, we will mandate 2...Problem solved and a spare for good measure... But forgot to say when.. Yeah Max was hoping for a red flag, the FIA clearly goofed badly..

I don't know, maybe used a decent gaming PC and run a simulation, called the seat warmers like Bottas in and had them race a couple of races, trying different combinations, should take about 3 hours, then mandated the best of the 3 as voted by the very expensive abusers of biz class..

I'm not saying they didn't play by the rules but still...

I know, I think that they did that for 2 reasons, 1= it was legal, and 2=as a very obvious duck you but replace the d with a letter from feathers.. to the FIA for being total Richards about the whole race set up.. Or Mr AG Bell's ends..

But what I find assuming is bro-mance at Ferrari, it is very clear, is that there are issues, LH is not the man, dresses as a count, but I think he should count the days before he leaves, or it will end in a very ugly divorce.. 2 races and the comments on radio make for a tragic opera.. Count von count [7 titles-some say 8, some say 9..] and some bloke with no luck at all. Mr LeClerc.. The Donkey Racers have made it very clear they want Count von Count out..

Oh yeah they were making a point for sure.

The current Formula E cars provide some exciting racing around the course. The natural thing might just be to let them take over the Monaco Grand Prix moniker.

If you want passing at Monaco, you get rid of the Nouvelle Chicane and let the cars run free from Portier to Tabac like they did in 1929.

Of course, you have to accept the risk you may have a career-ending accident or even a fatality...

At least 11 grown men, many of whom have at least a entry level degree of some kind, all have a full school leavers diploma, surely at some point there was a discussion about the 2 pits/2 tyres/at your pleasure for Monaco, but not one spoke up and stood their ground.. Not one of the teams held a strong enough view that 2 pitstops was a bad idea...??

The FIA should come clean and say that Monaco is just bad for business, the F2 feature race will forever live in disgrace for the 1st corner accident, and the 5 cars unable to take the grid for no reason other than they had outside assistance.. Then in a shorten event, pit stops, and a Richard parking the safety car virtually in the fast lane.. The race should have been cancelled at the 1st red flag..

Then we upgrade the chaos to biz class, with the total bellend moronic pit stop strategy of Red Bull, William's and the almost but never would happen non overtake of some bloke in a donkey kart on a pawpaw shopping trolley...[I think someone should check Lando's Netflix account, he watched Top Gun episode 1 too many times..]

Spa 1 lap winner winner chicken dinner, Adu Dhabi 2021, Monaco 2025, not sure which is the worst.. Stinkers all, and yet not a single word about the head cheese getting the sack.. ??? Very sus..

What sort of business? Having Monaco Junior Primary School AV dept run the broadcast is not a great look, F2 looking like a formula run by morons who have no idea what the word professional means.. Yeah great for business..

I like the Monaco race despite its faults. That is mostly for the qualifying and the pictures of cars skimming walls as they wind though the city. People have been complaining about it as long as I can remember (since the early 90s when I first liked f1) but I'd still miss it if it wasn't in the calendar.

If I was running the race I'd try a longish sprint with maybe 1 tyre change. Then have a series of head to head knockout time trials.
Some people might find it equally boring but I think it would be pretty exciting. (I liked single lap qualifying even if no one else did)

We have a physics problem, that is the m² of each car is not what the track layout as designed can handle.. Each car occupies at least 12m² of area, so an overtake requires greater than the width of 2 cars side by side, plus a safety gap.. Moving the tabac corner out of the tunnel 80 meters does not solve any problems..

Whether the logic is true or not, I tend to believe in that as we scaled up the broadcast aspect ratio from 4 to 3 to 16 by 9 and greater, the cars scaled up in a ratio that fits the modern broadcast ratio, whether this is true as design or by pure accident, the fact is, the cars in 2025 are proportionally too large to fit the surface area of Monaco as it is in 2025.

12m² is a rather large area, and to have 2 objects each of 12m² side by side and with a safety margin, you will need to call in the big boys with the big toys and do a lot of very clever driving of big boy toys from a feline named brand..

2 options really, big boys and big toys, or scale the cars to the track, reduce the area of the car from 12m² to 8m² or less... Or a 3 option, find a new layout, or run the track in reverse..

Monaco in reverse..

There have been complaints about Monaco being too narrow for F1 cars since at least the 1970s, so they're unlikely to change anything if they haven't already done so in the last half century. I read that the last time any car made an on-track overtaking for the lead was in 1985!

The Monaco GP is obviously a very prestigious race despite all of its shortcomings. To me it would make more sense though as a standalone F1 race, one that doesn't give championship points but that is mandatory for all teams taking part in the championship. Non-championship races used to be common on the F1 calendar and are common in other racing series, so it wouldn't be unprecedented.

One of the reasons the cars are larger is for safety (more crash structure to absorb the higher impact energies of the heavier and faster cars).

Last pass for the lead in 1985 sounds about right. I remember Mansell doing everything he could to get past Senna in the final laps of the 1992 race, but even though the cars were significantly smaller and lighter, there just was not enough room to make it happen.

But that was an awesome few laps that I remember well though.

Disney is a bit of a strange decision, but whatever, all just part of the show, I like the idea of C1/C2/C6.. All 3 compounds in the race.. 2 pit stops..
Dictating # of stops is one thing, but mandating tire compounds is something I’ve never liked. Let the teams choose for themselves what compound they think is best from those available for each race. TOO many regs will eventually kill F1. Look what’s happened to INDY and NASCAR!
