A leading civil rights leader who was a part of the 'Bloody Sunday' march has passed away. She was a remarkable lady.

Thanks for posting this; an extraordinary woman with a most impressive and up-lifting life. That generation who sought to effect transformational political and social change through moral and physical courage - and above all, by peaceful means - are owed an extraordinary debt of gratitude by the US. Political change, especially long overdue political change, righting grotesque wrongs, doesn't always come peacefully, and personified by such grace, dignity and courage.

To be honest, I don't give a damn, and most people don't either if they are willing to admit it.

What a singularly graceless post. I sincerely hope that you have the grace to be ashamed of yourself.

Anyone of colour will certainly give a damn, and anyone who hopes to achieve a more decent and a far fairer society, will give a damn. Above all, anyone who wishes to salute how someone of grace, dignity, and courage can give moral, political and physical leadership when seeking powerful political change by peaceful means, will most certainly give a damn.

And anyone who cares about how the US used to serve as a beacon for what might be achieved when hope and generosity of vision triumphed over racism and institutionalised viciousness, will most certainly give a double damn.
