I have a 19" Samsung 997DF hooked up to my gaming PC. CRT's are typically better than LCD's for gaming because LCD's tend to ghost. It's a great monitor, and it fits with the style of my room. I'd recommend it to anyone buying a CRT.

It'll do 1600x1200 at a flicker free 76 Hz, which isn't bad. I run it at 1280x1024 at 85 Hz, though, because anything lower will give me a headache.

I mainly use my iBook 12", but my boyfriend uses an 17" HP monitor which has, since day one, emitted a high-pitch sound that I am sure is not normal. When I use my desktop it's a Dell 15" LCD. LCD or CRT is fine as long as it's flat screen. I have an additional HP monitor that I sometimes use with a iBook G3 14" (broken lcd screen) and it has the rounded screen...I hate it.

17" NEC 1735NXM LCD and a 19" Samsung SyncMaster 955DF CRT on my PowerMac. Both great monitors.

Cool, but a side view is what I was more interested in...that is where the real beauty is...well, and the quality of the actual display was quite nice.

yesyesyes! at random moments my CRT monitor will just start crying. its a pain to shut it up, needing to turn it off for a minute. i always pictured that sound as being a beam of pixels, so im hearing the picture

Yes, I use only CRTs. My main monitor is the ViewSonic PF790, a 19" beauty that is best at 1600 x 1200 (IMO). I love the thing. I had to adjust it after I got it to get the best picture, but now it is clear and clean. I also used some calibration software to get it as good as possible without spending money for REAL calibration software.

I am in NO hurry to get an LCD.

For design, all CRT Lacie ElectronBlues 21" at work except for my Mitsubishi 2070SB (?), an old Apple 21" at home which is still working fine but really want an LCD for home just for space-saving purposes.

It's amazing how much heat a cluster of large monitors puts out. You walk over to our corner of the office and it's like it has its own micro-climate.

I have dual 21" CRTs at work, both of which are relatively high-end. I'm hoping to upgrade to a pair of LCDs when new contract money comes in.

i'd settle for a pair of 19" LCDs right now, though I'd love a pair of 21" (either standard or widescreen).

Yep, I bought one with my cube 4 1/2 years ago and still use both the cube and the 17" Studio Display as secondary computer & my girlfriend uses it very often too. It's truly a nice display, but although I try to keep my macs clean it has become quite dirty on the inside. I tried to open it a little while ago but after removing all the screws was not able to remove the transparent plastic enclosure. Anyone knows a good link with instructions for this?

Oh, yes I have a picture, it is not very good but the only one I have at the moment. You can also see the grey 17" CRT I use with my pb occasionally.

is it an older model? most newer 19" crt will do 1600x1200@85hz. my viewsonic does 16x12@85 but I use 1798x1344@75hz.

No, it's still being sold. I don't think that most new 19" CRT's will do 1600x1200 at 85 Hz, but I know some do. What model viewsonic do you have? I looked up the graphic series viewsonic monitors, and their 19" monitor can do 1600x1200 at 77 Hz. I did some pretty extensive research before I bought the monitor, and it seemed to be a very good deal.

Yup...
I use my PBook without any external monitor, but I use CRTs:

- 17" Samsung on the Athlon PC at home
- 17" Dell (sometimes) with my Windoze Work laptop, at my office.

Plus several other 17" Dells connected to various machines/servers at the office.

I have a P95f+B http://www.viewsonic.com/support/desktopdisplays/crtmonitors/proseries/p95fplusb/

they no longer make a pro series 19". I bought it in Jan. 2004 for 399. it even does 2048x1536 but at 60hz.
