I am trying to create an Applescript that merely applies a MetaX preset to any new .m4a file that is added to a folder. I have 10.4.11 and Automator 1.0.5, so I can't record macros, but even if I could, I don't see how I would select the most recently added file.

To complicate matters, MetaX only has some keyboard commands, such as open file. How do I apply the MetaX preset with Applescript? I'd like to automate the entire process.

Can you give some more info about what is in the preset you would like to apply? A screenshot of the application with the preset says more than a thousand words. Can you post the script you've come up with so far? What version of MetaX are you using? I looked up MetaX on Google and for version 2.4.6 the system requirements are Intel, Mac OS X 10.5 or later. I might give it a try as I saw the application probably is scriptable. The problem of how you would select the most recently added file can be solved by a folder action or a droplet or a bunch of other solutions. Do something to the file and then move it to another folder.
