I have a few directories with about 6 gigs each that need backing up/archiving. I've got the cd burner, but I don't want to divy all the files up myself and create all of these different cd-r disks. I can't afford a superdrive, either. :(

I don't want to have to fork out dough for 1) .Mac or 2) some expensive software package. Is there some handy free/shareware out there that will make this easier for me? I seemed to remember finding one on versiontracker a while back, but I can't seem to find it.

I had to do the same thing, but ended up buying Stuffit Deluxe. You can make an archive of a folder, then split it into certain-sized chunks, up to 2GB each. It took a while, but it worked.

That's an idea, but It's still $80 and compressing 6 gigs of data with a 350 G3 is not a fun thought. I think I'd just but a DVD burner for that money (I think I could get one for that much).
