Best conversion of 1080i50 to 1080p50 HEVC?

I have a good but older video camera that records at 1080i50.

It imports fine into Photos (or iMovie), but the files are very large, PLUS Apple blends the 2 interlaced fields so there's a constant blur to the image. I keep all my Photos and videos in iCloud.

Can anyone recommend a good app on the iPhone, iPad, or Mac to convert this to 1080p50 within the Photos app, keep the timecodes, and reduce the size significantly? I'd want to remove the originals to conserve space.

I've seen a couple of iPhone apps and I'm doing some web-searching now... but appreciate any advice.

* Half
* H265 Converter Pro

HEVC Convert reviews say it saves the smaller file as an amendment...meaning it keeps the original larger file.

Half has an unfinished support website with no support or facility to discuss or ask questions.
