I'm using a M2 Max Macbook Pro 16" for work as mostly a desktop setup with two Samsung G70A 28" 4K 144 Hz displays. This is the way I have it setup atm:
  • HDMI 2.1 port -> display 1
  • USB-C -> CableMatters DP 1.4 adapter -> display 2
  • USB-C -> CableMatters USB switch connected to:
    • Focusrite Scarlett 6i6 2nd gen audio interface
    • Elgato Stream Deck Plus
    • Mouse
    • Keyboard
It works generally fine, but is of course a bunch of cables. What dock should I get that would support preferably:
  • HDMI 2.1 48 Gbps.
    • It doesn't have to run both displays at once because that is likely to be bandwidth limited, but it should allow full capabilities of the display (and any future ones) without issue. The plan is to get a 5120x2160 @ 120+ Hz display at some point to pair with a 4K one.
    • DP 2.1 support is also a plus, but I have no idea if docks for that exist yet.
  • At least 4 USB ports
  • Ethernet port a plus, but not a necessity.
