London, when I'm home
I'm sure this has been handled here before, but like a fool I can't find a search engine for the forum...

I have an early 2011 MacBook Pro with a failing HD running El Cap. I've already replaced the optical drive with a 500GB HD which I now realise was a bad idea as there's no shock protection...

So I've ordered a 2TB HDD and a 240GB SSD to replace both drives. While I'm at it I'd like to set up a fusion drive to take advantage of the SSD. I've made a bootable close of my HDD on an external drive using CCC.

Question 1. I've found various step by step guides for setting up a fusion drive : http://macs.about.com/od/diyguidesp...-A-Fusion-Drive-On-Your-Current-Mac.htm#step1
for instance. Will this work on ElCapitan?

Question 2. Once I've installed my new drives, can I use my external drive to boot up, format the disks and create the fusion drive?

Question 3. What is the best way of then getting El Cap onto the machine?

many thanks.
