Can't do MP3 Audacity PMG5

So I am trying to convert/ record some of my father which luckily recorded on tape and having trouble outputting to mp3.
I have been trying to use libmp3lame.dylib which should also work according to Audacity's website but it doesn't. Is there another library I can use or should I use another program (PPC only)?

the set up is that I can only use my PMG5 for recording/capturing onto.

What happens when your try and output to mp3? No error just nothing happens?

EDIT: I looked up this issue and saw others had it but never really got a fix for it. What you could do is export to another format(.wav for example) and use one of the programs on this page to convert it to a MP3, http://macpowerpc.com/tag/switch/.

I've never used it and have use have uninstalled. I guess I will have to find my discs then and try it.

Is the LAME MP3 codec no longer avilable?

I couldn't find it. Anyway garageband seems to be better so I'm using that.

Audacity works fine for me and saves to MP3 - I've attached the library I use on PPC.
