I want to send free text messages to my friend who is on an iPhone 4s. Is that possible to write messages on my Mac and my friend get messages on her iphone and I get messages they write to me?

Any such App do that, Mac2iphone and iphonr2mac messaging?

I am running Snow Leopard.

Any instant messenger can do that. For example, you already have iChat on the Mac, which runs on the AIM (AOL Instant Messenger) network. Install AIM on the phone and you're good to go.

Or use Adium on the Mac and use any of the supported IM systems: Yahoo, Google (GTalk), ICQ, Facebook Chat, MSN, ...

I use iMessages all the time (ML) and it works flawlessly. It will even give a nice chime if you're working on something else and will wait for you in the notification center until you want to access it.

It's wonderful!
