I finished a WU yesterday that simply won't upload to the Work Server. The Folding@Home application have attempted on several occasions to upload it without success. The strange thing is that since the error first occured my Folding@Home application have finished another WU that it had no problem uploading to the Work Server. So now I am sitting here with one WU that won't upload while the WUs finished after that will upload. What's up with that? Please help me 'cause I sure would like that WU to help Team Mac Rumors hold of TNWSN until the first Power Mac G5:s starts arriving in our ranks.

The error message is as follows:

- Couldn't send HTTP request to server
+ Could not connect to Work Server (results)
- Error: Could not transmit unit 07 (completed July 6). Keeping unit in queue.

Your help would be very appreciated!

A while back i had the same problem with my powerbook. Same as you, the next unit finished and was submitted without a hitch. It just did not want to be sent. In the end i just deleted it, and got on with the next unit. There doesn't seem to be much you can do about it, unfortunately.

WU upload update

From what I have learned the WU will upload eventually. Every WU apparantly is linked to a specific server in order to keep track of it. What has happened is that the server on the recieving end of my connection is having technical problems but will be back eventally to recieve my work. Hopefully this will happen anyway.

Server outages

I was having some of the same issues over the weekend. Stanford was doing quite a bit of server maintenance over the holiday weekend. Things should be pretty smooth starting today.

Hickman

ps - folding for one week and I already have 559 points (13 WUs)

Server 110 is down (for maintenance I think) - I've got a couple of machines waiting to upload to it. Should be back up by tomorrow, so your result will upload then.

You can confirm which server the result is queued for by running the client with the -queueinfo option

You will get something that looks a bit like this
00 EMPTY
01 EMPTY
02 *DONE "Folding@Home" (78) 171.64.122.110:8080 ...
03 *READY "Folding@Home" (78) 171.64.122.144:8080 ...
04 EMPTY
...

The server number is the bit after the 171.64.122.
(actually, it is the final part of the IP number, but it has become conventional to use it to identify the appropriate data server)

Ni! :D

Said and done

Well I did as you said and this is what I got:

00 *READY "Folding@Home" (78) 171.64.122.144:8080 July 7 22:29:59 : September 5 22:29

Does that mean my WU is in queue then? The funny thing is that when I reboot the client it doesn't try to connect to the server anymore. Has it given up on me? ;)

Have you checked your stats to see if the WU was submitted? Are you sure it wasn't one of the two you sent off yesterday?

9 should be 10

I have at this time only been granted 9 WUs total. But the fact is the missing WU was my 10th. Strange. Anyhow I have another WU to be uploaded soon so I'll see what happens then. Thank you all for you help!

Yes Sir Furry Mark, all appears well now. :) Stray server must have returned to the fold. Cudos to you and your bretheren for the hard work you have committed to this worthy cause. By the way: Monty Python rocks!

"NOBODY expects the Spanish Inquisition! Our chief weapon is surprise...surprise and fear...fear and surprise.... Our two weapons are fear and surprise...and ruthless efficiency.... Our three weapons are fear, surprise, and ruthless efficiency...and an almost fanatical devotion to the Pope.... Our four...no... Amongst our weapons.... Amongst our weaponry...are such elements as fear, surprise.... I'll come in again." :D

I've had two units for 108 which have been sitting there since April 29th... from then till yesterday, my net was screwed so I guess it couldn't send.. but now it's fine and still having issues.. whats the deal?

[03:04:07] + Could not connect to Work Server (results)
[03:04:07] (171.64.122.108:8080)
[03:04:07] - Error: Could not transmit unit 08 (completed April 30). Keeping unit in queue.

server 108 has been up and down like a yo-yo recently

See some of the threads on the Folding community board
(e.g. Server 108 down)

You can see the current server status here: http://vspx27.stanford.edu/serverstat.html

It will come back eventually - have patience! :)
