My brother is planning on getting a DAW and he's considering a Mac although I think he's still leaning towards getting a PC.

He already has a license for Cubase and wants to know how Cubase performs on a PowerMac compared to Pentium, Xeon and Opteron based systems. I've tried searching and I found [sound on sound] which gives some indication, but it's a little old and it says that some things aren't optimised for the G5 yet. Does anyone know if that has changed or know about some more recent tests?

One of the main problems is most people use logic or something else instead of cubase on a Mac, so that makes us Cubase users an endangered species!

I've only got cubase SE and I haven't used it much yet so I couldnt tell you much about it I'm afraid..

OSXAudio might be of use.

Good luck :)

Hi, thanks for the link, although it seems to be down at the moment and has been for a day or so.

Is Logic "better than" Cubase?
