Darkened Saddle Brown Apple iPhone 7 Case

I really wanted a brown leather case for my new gold iPhone 7 but I wanted a darker brown color than the Saddle Brown. I figured it would darken with use so I got it anyway but I decided to try coconut oil as I had seen some You Tube videos of people darkening leather with it. I gave it a shot and I'm really happy with the result. It's not greasy and there is no odor at all. It's at least a couple shades darker. Sorry, I didn't take a before picture.

Good point. I'll try and remember to follow up in 6 months or so with a pic.

I used my daughters Burt's Bees natural baby ointment and got the same result. Made the leather feel softer and less slippery. Also works well to rub out any scratches from finger nails or drops.

He's the OP. He said he used coconut oil. I did the same to my midnight blue case and I'm really digging how dark it got.

Just got the Saddle brown for the iPhone 7 and noticed it has these diagonal stripped (light/dark)patterns fresh out the box. Now I've done a first coating of coconut oil on it but I have a question. Does the coconut oil help keep the color even after several applications?

The coconut oil won't do anything for the marks that are on it right out of the box. They are deep in the grain of the leather but in my opinion they are part of the character of leather cases.

Coconut oil won't remove the the lines, I wish mine had more lines. Mine before and after.

I don't have a before photo but this is after 3 applications of Coconut oil over a period of 2days. You can see those lines really well, I can't say I'm not beginning to admire it.

I was curious, since it looks like your iPhone is gold, does your case stain the white antenna lines? I have a midnight blue case on my gold iPhone, and even without adding any oil or anything, the blue stains the white lines on the phone.

I have both the black and saddle brown cases. The saddle brown smells like leather whereas the black doesn't smell of anything at all? Is there anything that'll bring out the leather smell without damaging the leather?

My red has stayed almost like New and my midnight has become so dark, it's close to black.

No, I don't see any staining at all.
