My old Kindle uses wireless b/g standard. My router is the 4th generation AirPort Extreme with current firmware. If it connects will it slow all devices down to the g standard instead of n?

Thanks

4th gen Extreme has separate radios/antennae for 2.4GHz (b/g) and 5GHz (a/n) so it shouldn't be the case, if you can keep your n-devices on the 5GHz band.

That router supports what is called "simultaneous dual band" and will not slow down in your scenario. Older routers without that feature would have slowed when the 2.4 b stuff jumped on for example.
