My friend has a DVD player that also records. To transfer his VHS tapes to DVD all he has to do is press record. I realize he has limited editing, but on my g4, I must first digitize and then compress to the right format. I tried doing this and took for ages and the compression gave me problems with great software. QUESTION: Can I digitize right to DVD format? (MPG 2 etc)
Thank you for any help.

DVD R help

What are you editing with Final Cut Pro iMovie or something else? I don't think that you can with FCP, it imports video via firewire and that can't be done with a DVD player. The only way that might work is if you could convert the DVD into a quicktime file on your hard drive then you might be able to import it to FCP. But beware when you compress it too much you may lose quality that makes it harder to edit.
