There is software (DriveCrypt) for Windows that allows for encryption of the entire hard drive, including the operating system. Is there any equivalent available for Mac OSx? PGP seems to offer on-the-fly encryption of entire hard drives such as external drives, but I haven't seen anything around that allows for encrpytion of the operating system and cache, etc.
IN the absence of this ability, is there a way to install any of the iLife bundled apps on an encrypted volume? What problems, outside of software update hassles, might this present?
Any advice, suggestions would be appreciated.

Why not just encrypt your home foldering using System Preferences. Click on Security, and then determine your settings. It will take a while to encrypt but once you do it, it will encrypt and unencrypt on the fly.
