Sorry if this has been asked before (my searches didn't yield the info I am seeking). I am using File Vault on my iMac internal HDD and I have selected "encrypt backup disk" in the Time Machine settings for the external drive I use for Time Machine backups. So, I think I have protected my data in the hopefully unlikely case where my iMac or the external Time Machine drive was stolen. I also want to make and keep a backup offsite. If I take a clean HDD and do a Carbon Copy Clone of my iMac HDD, will that also be encrypted (since the iMac HDD is encrypted using File Vault)? Or should I format that backup drive using encrypted formatting before doing the Carbon Copy Clone?

Many thanks in advance for your replies!
