I recently got a laptop and have been hauling it with me everywhere I go, so my room mates haven't been getting to watch the movies I normally have streaming off my computer. I've got the 40gb model, which is far too small to fit all of my stuff on there. I have an external hard drive that I was hoping I'd be able to hook up to it, and stream it off of there. Does anyone know if this is possible? If not, are there any alternatives that don't involve cracking open the case and installing a new HDD?

Thanks!

I am having issues getting my external hard drive to work with my Apple TV 1.1

I have installed nitoTV and all of the software that comes with that and it won't recognize the hard drive.

I have also tried manually running a script to transfer the contents of the Apple TV hard drive to the external hard drive and use that has the main source but that won't work either.

Anyone who feels like guiding me through this would be awesome!
