Jul 22, 2003 #2 Because 10 was coming out when they made the mac version and they never wanted to re make a new client for an old OS so they never made one. I could have about 800 more CPU's if they did make a Os 9 client but it never happened.

mc68k macrumors 68000 Apr 16, 2002 1,996 0 Jul 22, 2003 #3 it comes down to simplicity as macman pointed out they would have to write a new client from scratch. most machines i see with 9 run SETI as a DC...that's stanford's fault. with the X version, they pretty much port the linux code
