format a partition in external hdd

hi ppl,
i have a external hdd which has 2partitions. both are ntfs. I just need to format one partition, but disk utility won't let me do it. the option is just simply ghosted. it'll allow if i try to format the whole hdd though. any ideas how i can just format 1partition?

I don't think this is possible to do on the Mac. If you use a Windows utility like MacDrive, you MIGHT be able to do it, though I'm not sure if it'll work.
