Why do comedian's deaths seem to hit harder than other famous people?

Why do comedian's deaths seem to hit harder than other famous people?

Because it's sad when nobody laughs, and we all feel the world is becoming a much more dull, too serious and sad place to be on without good comedy.

Gary, you where an underdog and not valued enough, although the older guard of comedians held you in high regards. Smooth delivery and never saw this guy coming with the good jokes.

Did he have a show called the Gary Shandling Show in the mid-late 80's?

Yes he did... It was pretty funny to. One of my favorite episodes was the Ping Pong match and the reference to the movie "The Natural".
