A friend of mine -- seriously, I'm asking for a friend :) -- has a hard drive that is out of control. She has a gazillion photos and videos in all sorts of folders / places / ...

Is there a good app for OS X that would help her find duplicates, identify files by type, organize files, ...

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks

built in one works for me.

finder is good.

open finder and type for example "*.jpg" and make sure they select the hard drive and it will list all jegs.
Then you can create a new folder with these if required very easily.
Just highlight all, then secondary click and make folder containing selected files, then all photos together.

I recently downloaded forklift and some say it is good.
I have not yet used it.

there are lots of finder alternatives for mac in the app store.
Just finding one they like.
