Got my PHP, now about MySQL

So, I somehow managed to install a version of PHP5 on my mac.
Next step, I need to install MySQL . Does it have to go in my PHP5 folder or does it matter for those 2 to work together?
I know it probably sounds like a dumb question but someday I'll get it right man!

When mysql is installed and running it will be available as a system-wide service. It doesn't matter where it goes as long as it's configured right (default settings should work fine).
