Nothing can top the surprise and thrill of using Photoshop 1 or 2 for the first time way back when...

I also have to add PostScript, if that counts. Revolutionary.

I would nominate TeX / LaTeX. Not only because of the quality of the documents you can produce, but TeX is pretty much bug-free, which is remarkable given its complexity.

Sure, but Mac OS beat it there under the criteria of teh article. Object-oriented operating on Mac came well before Windows. The only thing that Windows has on Mac is that it gained universal acceptability.
