This article talks about ATI's new catalyst drivers which I assume only work for the PC, however they now include hardware acclerated (GPU) h.264 encoding which they claim can increase video encoding by 80%. I hope they can put this out for the macs such as the intel imac and MBP. I like to convert my DVD's to h.264 for storing on my computer and hope to get a video ipod soon (hopefully a widescreen ipod). This would make a huge difference cutting times from 2 hours or so to possibly close to an hour for a movie.

No kidding i hope it comes to macs too. Cause right now it takes my close to brand new imac 5 or 6 hours to do a single DVD, so i normally only do like one every week cause i do it on saturday afternoon when no one needs the comp.. and if anything goes wrong i have to wait until next week to try to fix it.
