This is the first thing I've always checked after doing a firmware update on my iPhone - complex smart playlists and nested smart playlists.

In iTunes they update properly but on IOS they dont' update.

Does anyone know if this has been fixed in IOS 7's Music app?

Doesn't seem like it. I have a smart playlist that gathers 5 GB of unplayed lossless songs that only gathers 19 songs within the Music app compared to the 246 that iTunes gathers.

I have a really complex playlist that doesn't sync. every other one works (there are songs…don't know if there are all)

Maybe if you listen to music more on your phone than on your computer, your phone considers fewer songs unplayed.

That's why it doesn't collect as many songs.

I don't think you understand: I'm describing something that actually worked for many years pre-iOS 7. All songs (283 currently) that matched the smart playlist criteria would sync over onto the iPhone.

I'll see if deleting the playlists from the iPhone and re-syncing has any affect.

Here's a picture of the smart playlist from iTunes:

I got it to work by making a smart playlist that references another smart playlist.

"new Lossless 2 GB" is the playlist that syncs to my iPhone and it references the iTunes playlist "new Lossless"
