hey guys, i'm just setting up time machine now. however, i've been saving my documents onto a USB flash drive. in Windows i use an app called 'syncback', which just copies a folder from one location and puts it onto another every 10 minutes. is there an app in Lion i can use that does this? i want to be able to tell it it automatically run backups every 10-15 minutes or so without needing to do it manually.

thanks

If you have a time machine, do you really need to be worrying about your USB drive now?

If you need portability, have you looked at dropbox/skydrive/google drive etc?

Yes, there is: http://www.bombich.com/

I don't think that's really what they were looking for, and doing a Time Machine backup every 10-15 minutes would be unwise, because they would almost certainly overlap at times.

OP, rsync is a program for UNIX systems that can do what you describe. A quick Google search leads to http://arrsync.sourceforge.net/ as a frontend to manage it without using the Terminal.

thanks, i'm looking at it now. does it just perform a sync or will it copy the folders over?

OP>> Carbon Copy Cloner at this link from V is exactly what you need and is free. Just select what folder(s) you want to sync and setup a schedule of time/scenario to run the sync and you are all set. You can run this to a USB key at the same time you run Time Machine to an external drive and they do not interfere.
